In honor of National Principals Month, we would like to thank our principal, Mrs. Jamie Soliman, for her dedication, visionary leadership, and pursuit of success for all students! #mchsproud

On #MinookaMonday, we'd like to feature math teacher, Mr. Jason Allen. He started at MCHS in 2007. He earned his bachelor's degree in actuarial science and master's degree in secondary education from the University of St. Francis. Mr. Allen enjoys the creative outlet afforded through the lesson-planning process and finds it rewarding to see the students grow and master the content. He lives in Minooka and married his wife on a mountain in Ireland. He loves to travel and has been to 30 different countries. He enjoys playing disc golf and coaches the school's team as well as the scholastic bowl team. And, he has never owned a cell phone! We are grateful to Mr. Allen's service to MCHS.

Some of Mrs. Julie Ziel's sewing students worked ahead of schedule and put their new sewing skills to work creating a set of baby onesies into T-shirts for a teacher's daughter. Nice work Mary, Lorelie, and Mackenzie!

Best of luck to the Girls Volleyball Team who is headed to the sectional semifinals tonight at Pekin High School at 7 p.m.! #mchsproud

Día de los Muertos, or Day of the Dead, is November 1-2. This traditionally Mexican holiday is for us to honor and remember those who have passed on. It is a time of joy where families and friends share stories and memories, so that even if they passed on, they will be alive in our hearts. On this holiday, MCHS libraries will be hosting a community ofrenda where staff and students are welcome to bring a picture of a loved one who has passed so that we can all honor and remember. Please bring a picture to either library starting Monday, October 30.

Congratulations to the Girls Volleyball Team who won the regional championship! We are so proud. #mchsproud

Congratulations to junior Devin McAleer for receiving a positive referral! He overheard a student worried about forgetting her P.E. uniform at home who didn't have the money for a rental. Without her asking, Devin reached into his pocket and handed her money. Devin is always kind to his classmates and willing to help when he can. Way to go, Devin! #mchsproud

On #MinookaMonday, we'd like to feature our science department chair, Mr. Chris Erickson. He originally joined the MCHS family in 2000, and after spending a decade in another district, he returned "home" in 2020. He earned his bachelor's in physics from ISU and master's degree in educational leadership from GSU. Mr. Erickson enjoys working with an amazing team of science teachers who are focused on providing meaningful experiences every day to their students. He lives in Channahon with his wife Michelle (an English teacher at MCHS), and three kids, two of whom are current students. He is a fan of the Cubs, Bears, and the WWE!

At this month's Board of Education meeting, we recognized senior Noelle Klima for being named a ''Semifinalist" in the 2024 National Merit Scholarship program. She represents less than 1% of U.S. high school seniors. We are incredibly proud of her academic success! #mchsproud
