Our very own Connections Crew students teamed up with our REACH students for a game day! Connections Crew members helped facilitate a variety of games in the classroom for a fun collaboration. Students got to pick which game they wanted to play. Uno was definitely a popular choice! #mchsproud

On #MinookaMonday, we'd like to feature Ms. Georgia Kaminski, business and computer science teacher. She started at MCHS in 2021 and coaches the JV dance team and assists with the color guard. She received two bachelor's degrees from Illinois State University (business and dance education) and is currently working on her master's degree in business education at Ball State. She currently lives in Plainfield and when she's not teaching, she loves to read and set a goal of 75 books this year!


Next week, students will participate in final assessments for all courses December 20-22. They will be assessed in a variety of ways. This week, Ms. Elli Wilkey's Baking 1 students created their own gingerbread houses. It was a fun project that highlighted their creativity. We think they did such a great job!

On #MinookaMonday, we'd like to feature Ms. Shayla Heery, art teacher. She started at MCHS in 2021 and received her bachelor's degree from SIUC. She loves providing a space for students to explore creative thinking and physically making something with their own hands. She lives in Ottawa and is engaged to her fiancé whose name is Clay, which is very fitting for an art teacher! She also has a step-son named Cassius who she loves more than anything.

Our superintendent, Dr. Schiffbauer, met with our student advisory group who continues to provide feedback as we develop our long-range strategic plan for the high school. These students offer suggestions and ideas and are helping us shape our future! #mchsproud


Ms. Kaminski's AP Computer Science Principles students took turns playing the role of a robot, following a series of commands to identify where they would end up on a grid. They were practicing reading sequences of code as well as writing conditional statements. Robot grids are one type of question students will see on their AP exam in May.






Our National Honor Society members decorated holiday cards that will be delivered to a local nursing home. We are so proud of our students volunteering their time for our community! #mchsproud

The MCHS District #111 Foundation of Education Excellence hosted its Ugly Christmas Sweater Party to raise funds for student scholarships and educator grants. Everyone had a fantastic time at this successful, annual event raising over $20K! We appreciate the community's support with sponsorships, donated auction items, and stocking stuffers.
