At this month's Board of Education meeting, we recognized Kylie Myers for being named a National African American Recognition Program Scholar by the College Board for scoring in the top 10 percent of the state on the PSAT and her exceptional academics. We also recognized mathematics teacher, Mr. Scott Tanaka, who is selected as an Educator of the Year Finalist by the National Society of High School Scholars! This honor is bestowed on educators who have demonstrated outstanding dedication to education and commitment to heling students achieve academic success. On #MinookaMonday, we'd like to feature Mr. Jon Calder, CTE department chair. He received his B.S. from Northern Arizona University, M.S. in Teaching from Olivet, and M.S. from Aurora University. He loves having the autonomy to do what's best for the students and build the best programs possible. There has been much growth and he can't wait to see what the future holds. He enjoys spending time with family and friends and lives in Oswego with wife (Kate) and dog (Noah). He enjoys their adventures together!

As a reminder, there is no school on Monday (1/15) as we observe Martin Luther King Jr. Day. This day reminds us to volunteer in service to help others, to support racial equity, and to foster respect for others.

Join the junior class for the annual Red Out Game on Friday, February 9 during the boys basketball home game at 6:30 p.m. Order your Red Out shirt today, designed by the junior class committee, and support the American Heart Association. Deadline to order is January 16 and shirts will be delivered by the Monday before the game. Pre-sales only; no cash sales or shirts sold at the game. Activities and raffles will be offered during the game.
