On #MinookaMonday, we'd like to feature Ms. Shayla Heery, art teacher. She started at MCHS in 2021 and received her bachelor's degree from SIUC. She loves providing a space for students to explore creative thinking and physically making something with their own hands. She lives in Ottawa and is engaged to her fiancé whose name is Clay, which is very fitting for an art teacher! She also has a step-son named Cassius who she loves more than anything.

Our superintendent, Dr. Schiffbauer, met with our student advisory group who continues to provide feedback as we develop our long-range strategic plan for the high school. These students offer suggestions and ideas and are helping us shape our future! #mchsproud

Our National Honor Society members decorated holiday cards that will be delivered to a local nursing home. We are so proud of our students volunteering their time for our community! #mchsproud

Ms. Kaminski's AP Computer Science Principles students took turns playing the role of a robot, following a series of commands to identify where they would end up on a grid. They were practicing reading sequences of code as well as writing conditional statements. Robot grids are one type of question students will see on their AP exam in May.

Happy Hanukkah to our Jewish students, families, and friends! Today marks the first day of the eight-day celebration. Learn more about the history and traditions of the holiday at https://bit.ly/2O5HRlH.
