We are excited to feature MCHS alumna Dr. Valerie Burns Cathers '03 who is the Founder & Executive Director of Gifts of Emotion Counseling & Consulting in Madison, Wisconsin, Core Faculty at The Healing Our Core Issues Institute, and Author of "Mood Monsters: The Gifts of Emotion". While at MCHS, she participated in theater and band. She received her bachelor's degree in psychology from NIU, master's degree in community counseling from University of Wisconsin-Madison, and doctorate in counselor education and supervision at Viterbo University. She became a Licensed Professional Counselor, Clinical Substance Abuse Counselor, Clinical Supervisor, educator, and business owner. She learned that success is rarely a straight line, and that meaningful work often comes from combining expertise with genuine passion and purpose. She's received countless awards since and belongs to several professional organizations. #mchsproud 🧡🖤

Congratulations to the MCHS Senior Class President, Gavin Brandani! Gavin will be attending The University of Mississippi this fall majoring in psychology with plans to go go pre-med to be a psychiatrist with a specialty in pediatrics. His favorite part of MCHS was how it feels like a community. "There are so many teachers, students, coaches that are so willing to work hard and be there for one another."
