Drivers Education
Mandated laws required by the State of Illinois:
Illinois State Board Rule concerning timetable for permit application. How soon can a student receive an instruction permit prior to starting classroom instruction? Per an amendment to the Illinois Secretary of State’s administrative rules enacted on April 4, 2008, a permit shall not be issued to a student more than 30 days before the student begins participating in an approved driver education course. Administrative Rule: 92 Ill. Admin. Code Part 1030.1
Student must be 15 years old to take permit test
30 hours mandatory classroom time
6 hours mandatory behind-the-wheel, 6 hours mandatory observation behind-the-wheel - with instructor.
The state requires 50 hours of drive time (10 at night) outside of Driver Education.
Attendance is of extreme importance for Driver’s Education, both in the classroom and behind the wheel. Students that do not meet the requirements mandated by the state, will be removed from the program. A student will be dropped from Driver's Education after the 10th Absence.
The driver education department expects the students of Minooka High School to participate in class activities, and actively learn in the classroom and behind the wheel to become the best possible drivers they can be.
We expect students to:
Be on Time
Bring Appropriate Materials (Permits)
Stay on Task; No Distractions (Classroom and Car)
Act appropriately in class and be respectful to everyone in the classroom
