Make-Up Policy

Per the student handbook: “students must complete one of the below make-up options within two class periods of the excused absence.”

Fitness Option:

Resource Make-Up

Students may ask their physical education teacher for a pass to leave resource and join another physical education class already in session. Students must receive approval from their teacher and the teacher of the class they will be entering, before a pass will be given. Students must abide by all rules and fully participate the entire period. PE Make Up forms must be signed by the host physical education instructor and returned by the student to their physical education teacher.

When Fitness is Not an Option: Article Review submitted to turnitin.com. Central Campus and South Campus turnitin.com instructions below

CENTRAL CAMPUS:

MAKEUP INSTRUCTIONS

  1. Choose an article related on one of the following topics

    • Fitness

    • Health

    • The unit your class is in (rock climbing, bowling, basketball, kickboxing, badminton, etc)

  2. Write a one page typed summary in 12-point font on this article. Within the one page summary answer the following questions:

    • What interested you about this article?

    • What is the main topic of this article?

    • What did you learn form this article?

    • How can you apply what you learned from this article specifically to your life?

SOUTH CAMPUS:

MAKEUP INSTRUCTIONS

  1. Choose an article related on one of the following topics

    • Fitness

    • Health

    • The unit your class is in (rock climbing, bowling, basketball, kickboxing, badminton, etc) DO NOT choose a sports score article (ex. Bulls beat the Magic 100 – 96).

  2. Write a ONE PAGE, double-spaced, typed summary in Times New Roman or Cambria, 12-point font (hint: this instruction sheet is in Cambria 12 point font) on this article. Within the one page summary, you must answer the following questions:

    • a. What is the title of this article?

    • b. What is the main topic of this article?

    • c. What two interesting facts did you learn from this article?

    • d. How can you apply what you learned from this article specifically to

    • your life?

  3. The heading of your paper should include your name, your class period, and the date you were absent. NO OTHER INFORMATION SHOULD BE INCLUDED (ex. The date, the teacher, the class title, etc)

  4. You must include a link to the article on the bottom of your paper. If there is no link, you will lose 5 points.

* Please keep in mind that you have only 2 days to make up this absence up. Even though turnitin.com has the assignment not due until the end of semester this is due to a technical error. If the make up assignment it is not submitted in the time frame you were absent the assignment will not count for points.
