COVID Protocols to Start the Year 2022-2023

Please read the following Q&A regarding COVID protocols to start our academic year:

  • Will my student be required to self-certify for the start of the 22/23 school year? No
  • Will my student be required to wear a mask at school for the start of the 22/23 school year? Masks are optional
  • When will students be excluded from school/activities/sports? If the student is COVID positive they will be excluded 5 days and recommended to wear a mask  for 5 days following the 5 day exclusionary period.
  • Will the school be testing students for COVID? For the start of the 22/23 school year we will NOT be testing students for COVID.
  • Do I need to provide a negative test for my student to return to school? For the start of the 22/23 school year we will NOT be asking parents to provide a negative test for students to return to school.
  • Will my student be asked to leave school because of a close contact? We will NOT be contacting tracing for the start of the 22/23 school year.
  • Are there any other circumstances where my student might be sent home from school? If a student is vomiting, has a fever at or above 100.4, and/or diarrhea they will be sent home and asked to be free of the above for 24 hours. 
  • If my student has COVID will those absences be excused? Any student that tests positive for COVID will be considered an excused absence.

Return to Learn 2021

In an effort to keep our families updated on school/community-related matters associated with COVID-19 (coronavirus), and our 2021 Return to Learn plan, MCHS District 111 would like to provide some relevant information pertaining to the current situation. This situation is very fluid and, as we have experienced, can change at a moment's notice.
We will continue to monitor and follow coronavirus updates and guidance from the CDC, Illinois Department of Public Health, Grundy County Department of Health, and the Illinois State Board of Education.
