GRADUATION INFORMATION

Graduation Letter - UPDATED ON 4/16/2013
An informative letter regarding graduation will be mailed to all senior families in mid-April. To download a copy of the letter, please click here.

General Details
The commencement ceremony for the MCHS Class of 2013 is scheduled for Sunday, May 19, 2013, in the MCHS - Central Campus Stadium.  The ceremony will begin at 2 p.m. (seniors need to report to the MCHS - Central Campus Performing Arts Center by 1 p.m.).  Please note that during the ceremony, seniors will only be handed their diploma cover.  Once the ceremony has concluded, graduates should report to the large gym to receive their diploma.

A letter from MCHS Principal Mrs. Darcie Kubinski will be sent to all senior families by mid-April.  You may also click here to download the letter (after it has been mailed to families).

Special Seating - UPDATED ON 5/13/2013
We do not limit the number of guests a graduate may invite, but special seating may be requested for the handicapped, elderly, or others who have difficulty sitting in bleachers.  Each student may reserve special seating tickets for up to 3 guests. For more information, please contact Mrs. Sherry Harris at 815-467-2140, ext. 124, by Wednesday, May 15, and inform her of your request for reserved seating tickets.  Reserved seating tickets will be required and will be distributed at graduation rehearsal.

Inclement Weather
In the case of inclement weather, the commencement ceremony will be moved to 7 p.m. on Sunday, May 19.  Should inclement weather continue to postpone the ceremony, the following dates and times will be used: Monday, May 20, at 7 p.m., and Tuesday, May 21, at 7 p.m. Please know that any change in ceremony time will be shared via a School Messenger telephone/email blast to all families on the morning of graduation, and as needed otherwise. 

Caps/Gowns/Tassels from Jostens - UPDATED ON 4/16/2013
The caps, gowns, tassels (with the exception of National Honor Society tassels), announcements, and other items will be distributed to students with no remaining financial obligations.  If your child was unable to pick these up during the scheduled times, please contact Mrs. Sherry Harris in the Principal's office.  If the ordering of these items was overlooked, contact Mrs. Sherry Harris, 467-2140 ext. 124, as soon as possible!

Circumstances that Will Prevent Your Participation in Graduation - UPDATED ON 4/16/2013

  • Any student who does not fulfill the academic requirements of Minooka Community High School by the end of the school day at 2:57 p.m. on Wednesday, May 15, will not be permitted to participate in the ceremony.  Parents, please remind your child that any make-up work must be turned in before this deadline.
  • Any students with grades coming in from correspondence work must have final grades submitted to Mrs. Debbie Muehlbauer, Registrar, by 3 p.m. on Wednesday, May 15..
  • Any student who has an outstanding financial obligation will not be permitted to participate in the ceremony.  Please call Mrs. Kathy Krakowski, 815-521-4122, to rectify any obligations no later than Monday, May 8.
  • Any student dressed in jeans, shorts, flip-flops, gym shoes, etc. will not be permitted to participate in the ceremony.

Diploma Photos
Grad Images will be on hand during the graduation ceremony to take a photograph of each member of the MCHS Class of 2013 as he or she accepts his/her diploma. To learn more about pre-registeration, please click here.

Graduation Rehearsal
A mandatory graduation rehearsal will be held on Friday, May 17, at 10 a.m.  Students should report to the MCHS - Central Campus Performing Arts Center.  Seniors planning to participate in the ceremony MUST be present for rehearsal.

Graduation Ceremony Video

SPECIAL EVENT INFORMATION

Senior Banquet
The annual senior class banquet will be held on Sunday, February 17, 2013, from 7:00 p.m. - 11:00 p.m. at the Shedd Aquarium in Chicago.  Please note that school is not in session on February 18 due to President’s Day. This event is for MCHS seniors ONLY. All seniors attending the event must ride the provided transportation both to and from the event. Seniors will need to meet in the MCHS - Central Campus Performing Arts Center lobby by 5:45 p.m. on Sunday February 17, to board busses for the event.

The cost for the banquet is $80 per person, which includes a buffet dinner, soda bar, dancing, and access to the exhibits at the aquarium. Tickets will be sold from January 1 to January 25 through the Web Store using a credit or debit card.  Cash payments will only be accepted January 31 or February 1 during the lunch periods.  Checks will not be accepted.  Tickets may not be purchased after February 1.  Due to the nature of the event, tickets are non-refundable.

Senior Class Award Voting

Prom
The 2013 Junior/Senior Prom, "Once Upon a Time", will take place on Saturday, April 20, from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. at Bolingbrook Golf Club. Online registration has closed. For general dance guidelines, please click here.

Senior Assembly & Class Panoramic - UPDATED ON 4/16/2013
Due to a change in the PSAE testing schedule which has resulted in seniors not having classes on April 24, 2013, there will be no Senior Assembly & Class Panoramic as originally scheduled. An alternative for the Senior Panoramic is currently being explored and will be communicated to seniors and their families accordingly.

Senior Final Exams & Grades - UPDATED ON 4/16/2013
The seniors will take their final exams on May 13 and 14, 2013.  Students may be exempt from 2nd semester finals in full-year courses only.  To be exempt from a 2nd semester final of a full-year course, the student must have received A’s all four quarters and an A for his or her 1st semester grade.  If a student is exempt from the final exam, he/she does not need to be present for that class period.  All seniors who are not exempt are expected to be in attendance for all required exams during both test days.

MISCELLANEOUS INFORMATION

Yearbook Sales & Pickups
The deadline to submit an order for a 2012-2013 yearbook is January 7, 2013.  The deadline for payment is January 13, 2013.  For order information, please visit www.minookayearbook.org.

The 2012-2013 yearbook will be distributed to seniors at graduation practice in May.  An enhancement package that covers end-of-the-year sports, activities, and events will mailed to seniors’ homes in the fall.

Order a Yearbook “Happy Ad”
Yearbook “Happy Ads” start at as little as $15 and must be ordered and paid for by January 11, 2013.  For more information, please visit www.minookayearbook.org.

Student Immunization Logs
Many universities and employers require a current immunization history. Seniors who would like an electronic copy of their immunization history should email Central Campus Nurse Melanie Eilers at meihlers@mchs.net.  Please note “Immunization History” in the subject line.  A paper copy of the immunization history is also available. You may also call the Nurse’s Office at 815-521-2304 or stop by to request a copy.

Local Scholarships
Each year, several local businesses and organizations offer scholarships to college-bound seniors. These scholarships are easy to apply for and the winners will be announced at Honors Night on April 29, 2013. Click here for more information. Please note that most of these applications are due by March 8, 2013.

Transcript Requests
Seniors can request transcripts by downloading, completing, and submitting the appropriate Transcript Request Form.  Click here to download a Non-Graduate Transcript Request Form if you have NOT yet graduated officially.  Click here to download a Graduate Transcript Request Form if you have already officially graduated from MCHS.
