Welcome! We are happy to provide high quality full-text Internet-based services. MCHS Libraries purchases these for use by all our students and faculty.
These resources are not Internet publications. Instead, these articles have gone through an editorial process and many have appeared in either electronic or print publications such as newspapers, magazines, reference books, and scholarly journals.
All eReference (databases & eBooks) require a username/password when accessed from outside the school. Please see your librarian for the list of eReference username/passwords.
If your teacher wants you to use scholarly articles, Gale, EBSCO, JSTOR, and ProQuest allow you to filter for scholarly/peer-reviewed material. For a comparison of scholarly to popular publications see the subject guide from the UTSA Library and the online tutorial from the Peabody Library at Vanderbilt University.
If you are not sure which eReference (database/eBook) to use for your research, see the list of MCHS eReference by subject. If you a currently a student at Joliet Junior College (JJC), even if only for a dual credit course, you are permitted access to the JJC college-level databases (highly recommended). You may also want to check your local library to see the databases/eBooks they provide to their library card holders. |
