LOCAL HISTORY PROJECT

Minooka Community High School recognizes the growth of the internet and the increase in the widespread access to information. Both organizations see the vital role in providing meaningful, significant content and information management to the citizens of our community.

All libraries and educational institutions have a responsibility to the future citizens of our state and local communities to preserve the intellectual heritage of Illinois. Much of the printed record of the last 150 years is recorded on disintegrating acid paper. Fragile materials may only be available to digitize once; for this reason, the Illinois State Library advocates the creation and preservation of the best possible electronic master file. Once a high-quality, high-resolution electronic file is created, derivatives can effectively and efficiently be made from it. The current trends in telecommunication and electronic storage now allows these files to be available to anyone with access to the internet.

Since 1904, the Grundy County Fair as grown to become an American Family tradition for residents of the county. For nearly 65 years, the fair was located in Mazon. Beginning in 1971, the fair was moved to its current location north of Morris. Notice the large sign that advertises, "Your Postcard While You Wait." This postcard photograph shows Grundy County fairgoers in 1910.
