The Broadway School located about 1.5 miles west of town on Minooka Road. Constructed in 1917 to replace the Meade School, which stood in the middle of a field to the south. The school had a front porch and many tall windows facing east to make use of the morning sun, and also had indoor chemical toliets. The Broadway School was named in honor of the famous street in New York City. At the time of school's construction, Minooka Road was graveled and widened. Since it was considered a nice road leading west of town (Minooka's own Broadway Avenue), the school was thus named.
