Minooka Community High School Board of Education Selects Name for New Campus (Minooka) After collecting input from the community and discussing various options, the Minooka Community High School District 111 Board of Education voted during its regular meeting on April 3, 2008, to name its new school “Minooka Community High School South Campus, Channahon, Illinois” during the years it serves as a freshman and sophomore center. “Considering the size of the population served by MCHS District 111, the identity of ours campuses needs to be clear and not create confusion based on assumptions about high school boundaries that mirror sender school boundaries,” offered MCHS District 111 Superintendent Dr. David Middleton. “It is our goal that, no matter which campus students attend, they should be able to identify with that as ‘their school’, regardless of their home mailing address or sender school background.” Middleton added that the district intends to include the name of the town in which each school resides on each building’s exterior, as well as fly a corresponding village flag at each school. “We are proud to have the support of the community to build this new facility in Channahon, and will continue work hand-in-hand with the Channahon Police Department, the Channahon Park District, the Village government, and the community at large as we move into the future,” he said. “This new school is the result of an entire community effort, and will serve as a constant reminder of how we can all work together in the best interest in the education of all students.” # # # |
