Minooka Community High School Athletic Teams Enjoy Successful Weekend (Minooka) The Minooka Community High School boys bowling and wrestling teams each enjoyed successful outings this past weekend. The Southwest Prairie Conference champion boys bowling team traveled to O’Fallon to take on the state’s top bowling teams in the IHSA State Bowling Tournament on Friday and Saturday. The team, coached by Derrick Rapsky, ended the two-day tournament with a 5th place finish, which is the best in the program’s history. Important to note is team’s age only two seniors were on the roster that headed to state. The remaining members, who are mostly sophomores and juniors, are already poised to make a return trip to state next season. The members of the 2007-2008 MCHS boys bowling team are: Ryan Lakota (so.), Sam Biesack (jr.), Brad Greenup (jr.), Tyler Heintzelman (so.), Steve Kettman (jr.), Chris Ruffino (jr.), Mike Guglielmucci (sr.), and Robert Krumlinde (sr.) The wrestling team’s hard work also resulted in success, as the team captured its sixth consecutive conference title by winning the Southwest Prairie Conference championship at Oswego East High School on Saturday. The team’s efforts resulted in five individual champions (Brian Bokoski, Brandon Haase, Marcus Rangel, Ryan Warczynski, and Cody Jones) and seven other place winners (Leo Ruettiger 2nd, Joeie Ruettiger 2nd, Nick Bain 2nd, and Joe Schuett 2nd, Blake Montella 3rd, Derek Nurkowski 3rd, and Mike Alberico 4th.) # # # |
