Minooka Community High School District 111 Seeks Community’s
Input on New Campus

(Minooka) - This fall, Minooka Community High School students will occupy two campuses.  All MCHS District 111 juniors and seniors will attend the current campus, while all MCHS District 111 freshmen and sophomores will attend the new school, which is located on U.S. Route 6 in Channahon.  While both campuses will carry the Indians mascot and school colors of orange and black, the MCHS District 111 Board of Education is seeking community input in selecting a name for the new campus while it serves as a center for all freshmen and sophomores.

“Our Board of Education understands and shares in the community’s interest in selecting a name for the new campus during the years it serves as a center for freshmen and sophomores,” said MCHS District 111 Superintendent Dr. David Middleton.  “Seeking input from the community will allow all district stakeholders to share their voice on this topic.”

Once district enrollment surpasses 3,000 students and plans develop to transition both campuses into separate four-year high schools, district officials plan to again engage the community in addressing topics such selecting a school mascot, team colors, and a school name.

MCHS District 111 residents will receive their February issue of the district’s “Connections” newsletter during the second week of February. A copy of the survey will be included on the back page of the newsletter.  Community members interested in offering their input on a name for the school are encouraged to complete the survey and return to MCHS District 111 Community Relations Director Dave DiLorenzo no later than Friday, February 29, 2008.  For more information, contact Dave DiLorenzo at 467-2140, ext. 179.
