Reminders & Upcoming Events

The Grundy Economic Development Council (GEDC) and Grundy Area Vocational Center (GAVC) are again offering their summer internship program to juniors and seniors currently attending high schools located in Grundy County. This year, approximately 40 internships in a wide variety of areas are being offered by 17 local companies.  Please visit the GAVC website ( or click here for more information and to apply. The deadline to apply is by 3:00PM - WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 20, 2019!

SAT Prep-Seminar: 
ZAPS will offer a one-day test preparation seminar at Central Campus on March 9, 2019. The class will be held from 9am-3pm, and instructors will focus on content, directions, test structure, and other relevant information. The cost of the class is $95.

College Selection Night on March 21st

MCHS invites all sophomore and junior families to attend the annual College Selection Night on Wednesday, March 21st from 7 p.m. – 8 p.m. in the Central Campus Performing Arts Center. Attendees will hear stories from current MCHS seniors on how they arrived at their college choice. Choosing a college is one of the most important choices students make during high school, so let MCHS provide you with valuable information to help you make an informed decision. If you have any questions, please contact your child’s MCHS counselor.

OCTOBER 4, 2017 - Conquering College Costs
On Wednesday, October 4, at 7 p.m. in the Central Campus cafetorium, the Student Services Office will sponsor “Conquering College Costs” for the parents of all high school students. Frank Palmasani, author of “Right College, Right Price” and creator of the Financial Fit online program will deliver a seminar that highlights every possible way to get a college sticker price reduced. His newly developed seminar will combine the latest information about scholarships, financial aid, student loans, and the college search process when financial issues are a factor. OCTOBER 14, 2017 - JJC Dual Credit Family Orientation
Joliet Junior College will host a Dual Credit Family Orientation on Saturday, October 14th from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. in the JJC Theatre. The event will focus on student resources available to ensure academic success in the dual credit program. In addition to touching on policy and procedures related to dual credit, they will address JJC Library resources students can access from home, study abroad and scholarship opportunities available to dual credit students, major and career planning, and free online tutoring students can access from home.

If your child is interested in taking JJC dual credit courses at MCHS, please consider attending this event. RSVPs are due by October 10 to Jennifer Majchrzak at 815-280-6926.

On Tuesday, October 17th and Wednesday, October 18th, sophomore students viewed a presentation of the 13 programs the Grundy Area Vocational Center (GAVC) in Morris has to offer. Sophomore students now have the opportunity to attend a field trip on Thursday, November 16th (during blocks 1 and 2) to visit GAVC and view three different programs of their choice. Students must obtain a permission slip from their counselor if they are interested in attending. Permission slips are due to the District Office at South Campus no later than WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 1ST. If you have any questions, please contact your child's counselor (click here for a listing of counselors).
