MENINGITIS VACCINATION REMINDER

This is a reminder that all students entering 12th grade must show proof of having the meningitis (MCV4) vaccine in order to attend school. All 12th graders must have received 2 doses of the meningitis vaccine, OR if the first dose was given on or after the 16th birthday, then only 1 dose is required. Proof of the vaccine must be turned in before the first day of school in August, or your student will be excluded from school until such time that it is received. Additionally, proof of your child receiving the vaccine must be on file with MCHS in order for him/her to receive his/her class schedule when class schedules are released in late summer.

If your student has, in fact, received the required dose(s) already, please submit proof of the vaccine(s) to the nurse at Central Campus. You can either have your student drop off a copy to the nurse's office or have your healthcare provider fax proof of the vaccine(s) to 815-467-2431. Any questions regarding your student's vaccine status should be sent via email only to Peggy Babic, RN at pbabic@mchs.net. If you are unable to email, please have your student stop in to talk to Mrs. Babic during school hours.

If your student has not yet received the required dose(s) of this vaccine, please make arrangements to have it done in a timely manner. You can get the vaccine from your healthcare provider, or any local pharmacy or healthcare clinic, depending on your insurance coverage.

REGISTRATION UPDATE FOR 2018-2019
The Central Campus guidance counselors wanted to notify parents that they spoke to juniors during the week of January 8th about the senior year course registration process for the 2018-2019 school year. Counselors will begin to collect that registration information from juniors on Friday, January 19th. By that time, juniors are expected to have their schedule requests entered into Class Choice and have their senior year registration forms completed. Parents are asked to note that they will once again be required to provide proof of district residency in order for their students to enter their requests into Class Choice. Please contact your student's counselor if you have any questions.

2019-2020 Prerequisite/Recommendation Waiver - If you did NOT meet the criteria for a specific Honors course and wish to enroll, you may complete the Prerequisite/Recommendation Waiver. To download the form, please click here.

Reminders

COLLEGE CAMPUS VISITS

Contact the admissions office by phone or online in advance for visit date and time. On days such as Columbus Day, most colleges will have large numbers of high school students coming down for “Preview Days.” If you know your intended college major, contact that department and set up a time to meet with them, as well. The more visits you take, the better decision you will make!

GRADES
Colleges will look at your semester grades through junior year for admission purposes, so this is an important year to do your best.

TESTING
SAT will be given at MCHS on April 10, 2018. You will complete all registration here at school. It’s a great idea to also take the ACT. You will have to register for this on your own at actstudent.org. The ACT is given 6 different times throughout the school year and our students typically take it at JJC.
