JJC Workforce Services is hosting a Resume Writing Workshop and an Interview Skills Workshop for area junior and senior students. These workshops are designed to sharpen your skills to prepare you for the GEDC Summer Internship Program or any career prospects. The Resume Writing Workshop is scheduled for Wednesday, February 7th, and the Interview Skills Workshop is scheduled for March 7th. Visit to register.

Senior Banquet tickets are on sale through the web store. If you buy your ticket now through January 31st the cost is only $80. After January 31st, the cost increases to $100. Ticket sales end February 12th. Don't miss out on this awesome opportunity to be with the Class of 2018 at the Shedd Aquarium for a night of dancing and fun on Sunday, February 18th. The Grundy Economic Development Council (GEDC) and Grundy Area Vocational Center (GAVC) are again offering their summer internship program to juniors and seniors currently attending high schools located in Grundy County. This year, approximately 40 internships in a wide variety of areas are being offered by 18 local companies.  Please visit the GAVC website ( for more information and to apply. The deadline to apply is WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 21st!

SEPTEMBER 13, 2017 - Financial Aid 101
Financial Aid 101: All You Want to Know About Financial Aid, But May Be Afraid to Ask. This presentation will cover how to apply for federal and state financial aid programs, as well as provide in-depth information about the types of aid programs available to students and their families. The program will take place on Wednesday, September 13th in the Central Campus cafetorium at 7 p.m. and is open to all senior families. Please contact your school counselor for more information.

OCTOBER 4, 2017 - Conquering College Costs
On Wednesday, October 4, at 7 p.m. in the Central Campus cafetorium, the Student Services Office will sponsor “Conquering College Costs” for the parents of all high school students. Frank Palmasani, author of “Right College, Right Price” and creator of the Financial Fit online program will deliver a seminar that highlights every possible way to get a college sticker price reduced. His newly developed seminar will combine the latest information about scholarships, financial aid, student loans, and the college search process when financial issues are a factor. OCTOBER 11, 2017 - FAFSA Completion Workshop

Minooka Community High School will host a FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) completion workshop on Wednesday, October 11, 2017, from 6 p.m. - 8 p.m. at in the MCHS - Central Campus library.

Joliet Junior College financial aid advisors will be available to help you complete your 2018-2019 FAFSA, regardless of your school choice.

Students who plan on attending college in Fall 2018 are encouraged to take advantage of this opportunity to get professional help with the online FAFSA process. Parents are encouraged to attend the workshop with the student.

You will need to bring:

  • 2016 federal tax returns (if available) for the parents and for the student who is applying
  • Copies of all 2016 W2 forms for the parents and for the student who is applying
  • Any other 2016 financial information

If you are interested in attending, please contact the Central Campus Career Center Manager at 815-467-2140 ext. 5022 see if reservations are still available. The times of the two sessions are 6 p.m. - 7 p.m. and 7 p.m. - 8 p.m.  When you call to reserve your seat, please indicate which session you plan to attend.

OCTOBER 24-25, 2017 - Last Chance for Senior Yearbook Portraits
VIP will be at Central Campus on October 24th and 25th from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. in the Central Campus cafetorium to take yearbook portraits (head and shoulders only) of any senior who has yet to do so. You can either schedule an appointment through VIP (847-499-9300 ) or just walk up on either school day.  

This is the last time VIP will be here to take pictures for the yearbook. Please contact the Student Activities Office with any questions at 815-521-4108.

NOVEMBER 7-8, 2017 - Jostens Graduation Orders Due

Jostens will be at school to take orders for graduation announcements and accessories, including caps and gowns, on Tuesday, November 7th and Wednesday, November 8th during lunch hours in the Central Campus cafeteria.  Ordering information was distributed to the seniors in a special graduation meeting at Central Campus on October 25th.  All seniors must place an order for their cap and gown at this time.  Orders may also be placed online at  Please reach out to the office of our Jostens representative, Brian Walter, at (847) 818-8419, or via email at, if you have any questions regarding the ordering process.
