Welcome to Minooka Community High School, We would like to welcome you to the 2007-2008 school year. While the summer has been filled with planning for the second year of our operation under an overlap schedule and watching the construction of our second high school campus progress, it is time to begin what we are sure will be a successful school year at MCHS. As in years past, the biggest challenge facing the MCHS community is continued, rapid growth of our student population. This year, we expect to see our student population exceed 2,300, which is an increase of close to 200 students in just one school year. Thankfully, our new campus in Channahon will allow us to properly address this growth. When the new campus opens in the fall of 2008, it will house all District 111 freshmen and sophomores. The current campus will house all District 111 juniors and seniors. We anticipate operating under this two-two configuration until 2014, when enrollment projections indicate that we should begin planning for a split into two, stand-alone, four-year high schools. Please take some time to explore our web site, www.mchs.net. You will walk away from the experience with a better understanding of how committed Minooka Community High School is to the development of your children. However, the web site offers only a small glimpse of what the school has to offer. We encourage you to come visit the school and get involved, because it is only through parental and community involvement that a good school truly becomes great. We will work togetherparents, students, teachers and the communityto focus on meeting these needs so our students can become successful leaders of future generations, and continue to strive to reach our goal of Helping More Students Achieve at Higher Levels.
