Dear Students, Parents, Staff, and Community Members: Welcome to the 2007-2008 school year. I know it is going to be both exciting and challenging. As we deal with overcrowding at the current building, we are excited as the work on the new building continues with expected completion in time for the 2008-2009 school year. With the new building we will be able to split our student population, with the 9th and 10th graders at the new building and 11th and 12th graders at the current building. This will offer us the additional space so desperately needed to house the current and expected student population of the district. Construction of the new building continues on schedule and we are also happy to report, on budget. We know that our staff and students will continue to face space challenges for the 2007-2008 school year. As we continue with the overlapping schedule for this year, the staff and administration will be planning for a smooth transition when the new building is in service, and we implement the use of both buildings. I’m sure that the students, staff, and parents will see all parts of these challenges, but we hope that you will be patient as we work through any glitches during this transition. Our current population and enrollment information indicates that with the new building we will have adequate space for the next several years, with future and additional classroom needs currently projected for 2014. Our business is education and we continue to have positive tests scores and our students perform at or above state and national levels. We are proud of the quality programs and services offered to our students and the quality staff at MCHS while we focus our efforts on helping more students achieve at higher levels. The Board of Education meets on the first and third Thursdays of the month and the public is invited to attend. The meetings, which begin at 6:30 p.m., are held in the Career Center at the high school. On behalf of the Board of Education, we wish you a successful year. Sincerely, Larry Larson President MCHS District 111 Board of Education |
